National Park Inn General Manager

Description:

  POSITION SUMMARY: Manages all phases of GSI operations in and around the Longmire area according to standards and policies set forth by GSI and National Park Service, working split shifts when necessary.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: All kitchen, dining room, hotel and gift shop equipment, Visual One property management system, Aloha and Counterpoint systems, calculator, credit card terminal, keyset telephone, photocopy machine, combination safe and computer.

NATURE AND SOURCE OF SUPERVISION: Reports to the Operations Manager. Works incoordination with the Controller, Personnel Manager and Sales Manager.

Duties:

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

•¨      Promotes the spirit and intent of Guest Services Hospitality Standards.

•¨      Remains aware of safety and security issues in your unit and environment.

•¨      Promote Career Development and Workplace Diversity.

•¨      Directs all employees working at the National Park Inn and General Store.

•¨      Governs housing areas for all GSI employees living in the Longmire area.

•¨      Learns all company policies and procedures in cash handling, reports, operating banks, inventories, transfers, receiving and storage of properties, etc.

•¨      Reviews operations based upon operating budgets, forecasts and service performance on a weekly basis, submitting reports to the Operations Manager as required.

•¨      Controls expenses and payroll costs of each unit to maximize profits and performance.

•¨      Assists in developing and implementing training and review programs for employees within jurisdiction.

•¨      Investigates and responds to all customer complaints and comments in a quick and thorough manner seeking to satisfy the customer.

•¨      Conducts weekly self-inspection programs for health, safety, maintenance, quality of service and product, and cleanliness in accordance with NPS and GSI policy.

•¨      Works with NPS on inspections of health, safety and concession evaluation.

•¨      Provides a continuous open line of communication with employees.

•¨      Direct or assist in monthly inventories.

•¨      Schedules, monitors and computes timecards each Pay Period in compliance with established procedures.

•¨      Participates in GSI Recycling Program in units and housing areas.

•¨      Checks dining room appearance for proper table setting, clean chairs and tables, floor cleanliness, etc.

•¨      Monitors staff appearance for compliance with company policy including name badges.

•¨      Performs any and all duties during staff shortages and during peak periods of business.

•¨      Performs shift by shift food quality assurances, checks to ensure top quality product is being served. Will work with cooks on duty to correct any problem with food quality.

•¨      Performs such other related duties as directed or required.

Qualifications:

  PREREQUISITES: Education:  College Degree.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Five (5) years restaurant and hotel management experience; retail xperience preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a personal credit check.

Personal Qualities and Physical Requirements:

Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to guests, supervisors and employees.  Must be able to write legibly as well as read and understand directions and instructions.  Appearance must be in compliance with company guidelines.

Will be required to perform diverse physical tasks.  Must be able to stoop, bend, grasp, kneel, handle, reach and squat. Extensive walking and stair climbing.  Good physical energy, stamina, and agility.  Must withstand exposure to wet floors. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds periodically.

Must be service and safety oriented.  Must possess a sense of awareness, timelines, urgency, humor, and common sense.  Must be able to adapt to the isolation of park life.
